Fans in Enemy Territory!

Our church got 50 group tickets for this Dodger game and we got to go to dinner and the game with our friends, Matt & Mishawn. Matt & I are both San Francisco Giants fans and I think every true fan has to have this experience at least once:
  • Go to a game where your team is the road team.
  • Not only that but THE hated rival team.
  • Wear your team's colors/gear anyway

Matt & I

Then, after the game... walk out of the stadium while drunken Dodger fans try their best (weak efforts) to insult you. It was a very interesting experience to say the least! =) Even though I would have preferred the Giants win the game, maybe it was better that they lost. Who knows what the Dodger fans would have been like if the Dodger had lost.

Amy & Mishawn enjoying the ga... I mean the chatting.

Warriors 110, Celtics 100

My Dad got NBA tickets from mom for Christmas... so Jaron and I got to go with Dad to last night's Golden State Warriors game! This blogger forgot to take any pictures... but we had a good time and Dad's team won. Here's a recap of the game.

Hockey!

As an end of the year celebration event, the Mission Springs staff was treated to dinner and a hockey game at the HP Pavillion in San Jose. We had a fun evening! My brother and Jenni (well, mostly Jenni =) graciously agreed to watch our kids and Ocean Anderson for the evening. We dropped the kids off at J & J's then met the MS staff at the arena. First, we enjoyed a meal together in a private room in the arena. Then, we enjoyed the game!

The NHL game was between the Los Angeles Kings and the host San Jose Sharks

The HP Pavillion is a nice modern arena... here's the view from our seats

Unfortunately, the home team Sharks lost the game. Game Story

Kaylin working on her ball-handling skills...

Here's a video of Kaylin working on her dribbling skills. My favorite part is how, in typical easily-distracted toddler fashion, she stops to throw a leaf over the fence, then goes back to what she was doing!

Way To Go Coach!

I (Derek) use a very cool Google feature called Google Alerts to keep track of news that's of interest to me. You can input search terms and Google will send you an email whenever those terms appear in an online newspaper, etc. However, that's the point of this entry... I mention Google Alerts because that's how an article about UOP Men's Basketball coach Bob Thomason came to my attention. Coach T has been the Head Coach at Pacific for 18 seasons... so that of course includes my year's working in the basketball program. Anyway, I was excited to read this article and then I thought I'd share it... you can read it here: "Finding Solace" - lodinews.com Go Tigers!
