Practical Love: TREAT FUND for Jaron and Jenni!

I (Amy) have been thinking for a few days now about how to do something loving and practical to encourage Jaron and Jenni. I know they appreciate our prayer support sooo much, but I really want to do something tangible to love them. I know their small group at church has pitched in to put them up in a hotel for a couple of nights while Riley's in the PICU, and Harker (Jaron's work) has started a fund to help them cover other expenses (like food while at the hospital, hospital deductible, etc).

Since many who are reading this are friends and family of J&J (or friends of friends) AND we live far away and can't bring meals, what I've decided to do is to start a "TREAT FUND." This money will be used to TREAT Jaron and Jenni to something nice for THEM. So...if you're like me and wish you could bring them a meal, how about instead contributing a few bucks to the TREAT FUND?

What kind of "treats", you ask? Well, one of my most favorite gifts was when someone paid to have my house cleaned when Trevor was born. There's something about having a clean house that takes so much stress off a person! Or if there's extra, maybe we could give them money towards getting a massage???

Jaron and Jenni have been on a very rough road for the past 9+ months. And even though they're past of worst of it, Riley has a long road to recovery ahead. So let's do something kind and practical to show J&J how much we love them! Are you with me?!

If you're interested in contributing, even just a few bucks, email me at my email address (don't want to give it publicly here) or olsonweb@yahoo.com

You can then send your contributions to our house or Derek's work at:

Derek Olson
c/o Granada Heights Friends Church
11818 La Mirada Blvd.
La Mirada, CA 90638

Please email/send contributions by next Wednesday 3/11 so we can get the gift to them soon.

Let's show Jaron and Jenni how much we care for them, even from far away!!!!!!

Praise be to God!

Riley's surgery went very well! All early indicators are very positive. They got 90% or more of the tumor. No nerve interuption that they know of. Riley will be sedated for about 24 more hours and in intensive days for at least 2 days. She'll likely have another (relatively small) surgery in a few days for the digestive issues and to put in a feeding tube. There's still a long road of recovery but praise Jesus that things went well! Thanks to all for your prayers and keep on praying for full recovery. I'll post more updates on Facebook and our blog as I hear more in the coming days.

Love,
Derek & family

Mid-Surgery Update

Riley's parents received a positive report at about 2pm that Riley is tolerating well and that they'd already removed about half the tumor.

Surgery Underway

Niece Riley's brain surgery got underway at Noon and will likely last 5-7 hours. My brother's family knows that so many of you are praying. Thanks & keep on praying!

Riley's Surgery is Today

Riley's surgery prep starts at 8:30 this morning. Then, operating to remove brain tumor will begin at about 10:00 am and last until late afternoon. Thanks for your continued prayers!

I will try to give an update or two later today here on this blog. However, I will also be posting status updates and notes on Facebook... so if you are a Facebook user, that's the best option.
